Yoplait’s “Mom on” ad is a commercial that highlights the everyday struggles that moms go through, balancing parenthood with life. The advertisement encourages mom to ignore judgement and to live stress free. This good message was met with praise for the most part online.

Despite this, there was still some backlash that can be seen through Youtube. On Yoplait’s official video, it stands at 1,300 likes and 500 dislikes, which is a controversial statistic, to say the least. A logical place to look for criticism would be on the video itself, but the video stands with the comments disabled. On Twitter, some users had some criticism to express:

Although the ad was never formally pulled, the video remains unlisted on Youtube, which means no one can see the video without a direct link. This advertisement had a good sentiment, yet was met with some backlash which led Yoplait to unlisting their video and hiding the comments.

This advertisement doesn't seek to exploit social justice. The fact that the moms in the ad are eating Yoplait is riding the line between ethics and exploitation, but I believe that Yoplait's true motive was good. Yoplait wanted to use its platform to support women. I don't believe they sought to exploit social justice.
